About

The Chittamani Mahayana Buddhist Meditation Centre is a Gaden for the West meditation centre under the spiritual direction of the Venerable Acharya Zasep Tulku Rinpoche. The Resident Lama of the Chittamani Centre is Dr. Bob Kapitany (Lama Gelek or Lama Bob). The Chittamani Centre generally offers Dharma classes twice weekly as well as the opportunity for meditation retreats for students on a regular basis throughout the year.

Classes

Classes are usually available for students two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday). The Thursday class (Mindfulness meditation) is for new members to the center regardless of how much meditation experience they have.

Retreat

Attendance at the weekly teachings is a requirement to prepare students for retreat. The Chittamani Centre offers retreat opportunities at least four times a year.

As meditation instruction is ongoing, and out of respect to other students and the Resident Lama, you must first contact the webmaster at chittamanitara@hotmail.com prior to joining classes at the Chittamani Centre.

All newcomers begin with the Thursday mindfulness meditation class, as attendance at the Tuesday Vajrayana class is by invitation by the Resident Lama only.

The fee for classes is $10 per day or $50 per month.

Classes are directed by the Resident Lama .

Tuesdays - Vajrayana Meditation Instruction - 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Thursdays - Mindfulness Meditation Instruction - 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Retreats Offered in 2015

The Chittamani Mahayana Buddhist Meditation Centre will be offering 4 meditation retreats in the Vajrayana tradition during 2015.

The retreat environment offers students the opportunity to deepen their meditation practice through intensive daily meditation sessions and teachings given by the Resident Lama. The retreat experience is recommended for any student who wishes to work toward the abandonment of the eight worldly attitudes, as it provides the means for the wisdom mind to grow toward the attainment of the six perfections and ultimately enlightenment.

Any student who is interested in registering for a retreat must first be invited by the Resident Lama. If you are not currently a student at the Chittamani Mahayana Buddhist Meditation Centre, please send an email message with "Retreat" in the subject line to chittamanitara@hotmail.com.
